über Gfaßsattel (1.226 m) - Schönjochalm (1.287 m)
From the ski lifts - “Rofan lift II” car park, follow the forest track and after approx. 500 metres, a steep path off to the right leads across the ski run to the “Gfaßsattel”. From there walk along the forest track and then the forest path to the “Schönjochalm”. Along the road, walk up across the “Kögeljochbach” stream as far as the path junction and then finally left down the “Wurzengarben” to the “Einbergalm” (sign-post). Next, head down towards “Schmalzklause” until you come to the feeding trough on the forest track. From there, walk along to the left up passed the saddle and continue along the saddle ridge until you reach the junction with the forest track to the “Schönjoch” valley. Walk along this and after approx. 3 kilometres, you will be back at the starting point. From the feeding trough on the track, you can also walk right along the forest track and continue along the “Steinberg Ache” (stream) until you come to a fork. There you will find an asphalt path. Follow this up to the left towards the village. After crossing a cattle grid, a path goes off to the left
towards the parish church.
